Throw, and not rushing: sport

We had a chance to visit a very unusual gym. At first glance, this is an ordinary hall, very spacious, bright, with huge windows, protected metal grids. Virtually the entire floor is staminated by mats. Here they are called the Japanese manner "Tatami", and it would be logical to assume that the room is intended for training in martial arts. Indeed, among other things, there is a hand-to-hand fight here, however, the true purpose and tatami, and the entire hall gives out the condition of the walls: they are made by potholes and scratches. Many losses can be found on the floor, and the door to the locker room from the laminated veneer is reminded by a colander. Moreover, even powerful metal supports that support heavy sports shells, breaks through. This room is the largest specialized training hall in Europe (and, by the way, ax) in Europe. Here we met Sergey Fedosenko – an athlete with a 20-year experience, a coach who prepared several European champions, a repeated winner of international competitions, Vice-President of the Moscow Federation of Sports Throwing a knife and a leading instructor of the FREE-KNIFE school instructor. We asked Sergey to teach us properly throw knife in target.

Mercury legend

The first thing Sergey dispelled the Miph that throwing knives for throwing a special design with the center of gravity offset towards the tip. "I manage the subject, and not the subject of me. From any distance, I can reject the knife for any number of revolutions, "he explains. Throwing a knife, a man gives him a linear and angular speed. Both of these parameters must be completely controlled by an athlete. Skill comes with experience, as well as the ability to visually track the behavior of a knife in the air. While the random viewer watches the "madly rotating" in the air of a weapon, the specialist sees how much speeds the knife comes, and in what position (inconsiderate or twisted), it comes to the target.

To make sure possible to control the angular speed, try to throw a hammer with a handle forward, avoiding rotation. If this is not so much a throw, how much push in the direction of the target, the hammer will touches it with a handle, although the fact that his center of gravity is as close as possible to the shock part, no doubt. Do not confuse a knife with a dart, which is pulled out after the center of the masses due to the aerodynamic fool. Professional can renew in the target almost any pointed subject. In the show-Arsenal Sergey Fedosenko, you can find needles and spokes, skewers and nails, scissors and passage.

At the time of the throw, a 300-gram projectile can act on the hand with an effort in tens of kilograms, so a well-balanced knife is easier to control. This is especially important for novice athletes. A professional can easily change the characteristics of the knife by taking it to handle or for the blade, closer to the center of mass or on.

There is a legend about mercury knife, inside which the channel filled with liquid metal is drilled along the entire length. Specialist such tricks are not needed, and yet a throwing knife has a number of differences from combat, hunting and household. For example, the FREEKNIFE knife "Sargan" is formed from a single piece of metal and is very conditionally divided into blade and handle. If the knife was a national team, he would quickly scattered from strikes.

Thick heavy shell reminds classic trench knives. He has the edge, but there is no cutting edge, so the athlete can freely take him for the blade, not afraid to cut. Throwing knife not needed overlays on the handle. Particularly inappropriate in their place tires, as it helps the knife "ricoze" with unsuccessful throws. In Russia, the mandatory requirements include one-sided sharpening, the width of the blade is not more than 6 cm and the absence of the stop, which prevents the scorpion of the hand with the handle on the blade. Otherwise, the knife will be attributed to the category of cold weapons and is prohibited for use. In Europe, where the law is not so strict, athletes prefer to throw wide daggers.

When throwing in the target, knives often fall into each other, so so that sparks fly. The most terrible enemy of the athlete – burrs and the jar, which can be painful. Therefore, a professional with you is always a file.

As in the pharmacy

The technique of throwing knives may be sports or power. Sports, in turn, is a multi-turn and low-speed. Local technique – the most accurate. Athlete performs a throw with a relaxed brush, shoulders, back. By fixing the body position, it can fully concentrate on purpose. "There is something in common with shooting," says Sergey Fedosenko, – half a hearth and semi-highly, pause between heart blows, complete unity with weapons ".

Preparing for a throw, the athlete spreads the legs along the cast line, turning the foot under 45 degrees for stability. The line of the shoulder and hips perpendicular to the target line, the pelvis is rigidly fixed, the back can only deviate along the target line. The knife is held by two fingers, plugged in the end of the handle, is relaxed, the elbow slightly pressed to the body. The hand is a lever, also swing only along the target line. Nick knife is directed strictly to target.

Swallowing the athlete rejects back to all hull. Sergey compares this movement with a bow tension. Any cyclist knows that it is much harder to move from the spot, than maintaining a straight movement or smoothly accelerate. It is this black work that the hull athlete takes. The hand brings the case to the end, if possible, moving a brush is not on the arc, but as close as possible to a straight line directed strictly to the target.

Throw, and not rush sports

Classical distances in sports – 3, 5, 7 and 9 m (there are still disciplines for a distance, where the distances often exceed 25 m). At these distances, the knife makes one, two, three and four turns, respectively. This is the main disadvantage of multi-turn technology: the knife rotates fast enough, and so that it goes to the target, it is necessary for a very strict compliance with linear and angular velocity. The angular speed depends on the point of grip, on the degree of relaxation of the brush, from the power of the fingers, and sometimes even from the weather and mood. At the competition athletes are allowed to perform several test throws, and they determine their "distance for today". This may be, say, 9 m exactly or 9 m 7 cm. Every centimeter really matters.

With low-quality technique on classic distances, the knife makes half (grip for the blade), one, one and a half or two turns. The knife rotates much slower, which means it has more chances to enter the target even with an inaccurate distance. The shock technique differs from the multi-turn because the knife takes all the fingers with a flat grip (without girth of the cutting edge), and the brush during the throw is rigidly fixed under a strictly defined angle to the forearm. From this angle directly depends, in what position the knife is suitable for the target.

Low-speed technique is no longer so accurate because the throw is performed in a tense hand. In addition, with a multi-turn technology, the knife is included in the target strictly turn up, and with a low-speed – at an angle, closing some part of the target. The probability that the next knife will bounce off from him without hitting the target, becomes higher.

Bit against dart

Power technique is different from sports, like baseball from Darts. The throw here begins with the rotation of the hips, like a good boxing. Then his portion of energy gives the knife to the rotation of the back, and the hand completes the case, passing the rotation of the shell of a slide of an elongated index finger along the footage. Unpensile power equipment with due skill allows you to throw a knife to any unspecified distance, at any angle, from any positions. At the same time, even an experienced athlete, such as Sergey Fedosenko (in addition to throwing knives, he owns many other types of weapons and hand-to-hand combat skills), it will not be able to just stick the knife to the target on the same depth as when.

In the foreseeable future, Sergey plans to organize an acrobatic power competition with working from shelter, from a turn, from the positions sitting, lying, with the removal of the knife from the sheath. By the way, throwing a knife is a sport in which our country holds the first positions. At the 2011 European Championships in Germany from 45 medals 18 went to the ours.

If you want to learn how to throw knives, you can not do without an experienced trainer. However, if your goal is to surprise relatives, you can master one type of throw alone. Use low-speed sports techniques and train in strictly defined conditions at a distance of 3 m. Pay attention to the degree of stress of the brush and the angle between the knife and forearm, we can walk the ricochets. One donated throw will not make you a master and still from the side will look very impressive.
